Wound healing

In contrast to human medicine, the specialization of wound healing does not yet officially exist in veterinary medicine. However, as there are also wound healing disorders in animals, both surgeons and dermatologists deal with them. The introduction of cold plasma therapy in medicine has opened up new possibilities in wound healing, which should definitely be used for animals too.

In collaboration with leading dermatologists, the Obersee practice was the first practice to develop numerous reference cases for the Cold plasma therapy which have led to international recognition. Dr. Hiestand's 'specialization' is also growing through his work as a veterinary consultant for a Swiss medical technology company. The ActivCell Group develops and produces devices and supports research into cold plasma therapy. Dr. Hiestand accompanies studies at universities and gives lectures at international congresses.

We deal with chronic wounds and therapy-resistant skin problems. With cold plasma, we are able to remove multi-resistant pathogens and reactivate blocked healing.

Scar tissue can also be reactivated and stimulated to remodel. If necessary, we can also surgically repair wounds to lay the foundations for better healing. Other technologies available to us include electrosurgery and cryotechnology.
